The complete process, from collection of the sample through to the transportation, processing, testing, freezing, storage and release for therapy, is highly monitored and controlled. All of our Laboratories are appropriately licensed and the Laboratory Protocols have been established in compliance with the NetCord-FACT international guidelines. Geneva’s facility has achieved accreditations according to the highest standards: GMP:WHO, GMP:Pic/S and ISO 9001:2008. Our Quality Management System uses special state-of-the-art techniques to ensure full traceability from the client through to the laboratory and storage facilities.
We process all samples using a fully automated system with no risk of contamination. This volume reduction of umbilical cord blood before cryopreservation is the preferred method applied for most public, private and family cord blood banks worldwide. For hematopoietic stem cell transplantations, only the white blood cells are required and represent the main therapeutic potential. The automated processing technique preserves also the highly immature stem cells with potential application for treatment of non-hematopoietic diseases.
Your sample is held securely until such a time as you may need it. With full parental request and consent, many samples have already been released from our facilities for treatments. In some cases, and again with full parental request and consent, we also release samples for research purposes, proving that furthering the work to develop future treatments is a core element of Cryo-Save’s business.
